Ross County goalkeeper Scott Fox says the forthcoming week presents the ideal opportunity for the Staggies to climb the table before next month’s winter break.
County have slipped to second-bottom of the table at the halfway stage of the campaign, only two points ahead of Partick Thistle.
The Dingwall men face Hibernian at Easter Road, prior to matches against St Johnstone and Partick Thistle later this week, and Fox feels his side can catapult themselves up the league.
Fox said: “It’s three big games. They are difficult games as well but I think we’ve shown we’re more than capable in the last few weeks.
“We’ve been pretty unlucky. We’ve been playing decent in games and some of the decisions like last week, and deflections that happened twice in two games, were hard to take.
“As a group of players I think we know we’re close to doing something good so we just need to stick together and get through this wee period.
“Hopefully once we get a couple of wins we can get our confidence back and start winning games more comfortably.
“We know it’s a tight table. It’s still December and everybody can beat everybody in this league, although you look at Celtic and understand where they are.
“We just need to get a run together and the games we’ve got coming up next are difficult, but we’ve got one up here and then Partick away so we’ve got opportunities to pick up points.”
Fox regards the Staggies as underdogs in Edinburgh today, with Neil Lennon’s men eager to bounce back from a 4-1 defeat at Aberdeen last week.
The 30-year-old added: “We know Hibs are a good team, they are a strong side.
“We played them up here twice already, in the Betfred Cup and in the league, and they were very good.
“We know it’s going to be difficult down there, especially at Easter Road with a crowd behind them. At Christmas, the Edinburgh fans will come out and watch them.
“It will be a good game for us to play in as a team because I don’t think people will give us much chance going there. It’s about us putting our stamp on the game and trying to get something positive from it which can kick-start our season.
“But we’re under no illusions it’s going to be anything other than difficult.”
Fox will enjoy festive cheer away from football this Christmas after becoming a father for the first time earlier this year, to his daughter Harper, and the former Partick Thistle goalkeeper said: “My wife is doing a lot of the hard work, but I’ve not missed anything since moving up here, I can say that. Having the family there was important to me.
“It has been hard because we’ve not got family up here so it’s just been the two of us, and we’re new to this as it’s our first child. I feel like we’ve adapted well and we’re enjoying it which is the main thing.
“When she was born it was a whirlwind for two or three weeks after it, but then things settled down.
“You go home and you know what you’ve got, you feel lucky.”
