Peterhead boss Jim McInally has been named as League Two’s manager of the month – but the award shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone.
There was only going to be one winner as the Blue Toon were in menacing form in December, claiming four wins out of four, scoring 13 and conceding only twice.
It has thrust them firmly back into the promotion mix and they currently sit just in second, just a point behind leaders Montrose with two games in hand.
McInally is already a shoe-in to repeat the honour for January having led his side to a 7-0 win over Elgin and a 4-1 triumph at Stenhousemuir so far this month.
Striker Rory McAllister, so often the star man for Peterhead, was in scintillating form in December and netted five times.
Brothers Jason and Jordon Brown were also a major factor in the club’s success, with three goals and two goals in December respectively.
Most impressive of all during the month was their 6-2 demolition of Montrose, outlining their championship credentials.
McInally, the longest serving manager in the SPFL having joined Peterhead in October 2011, will be hoping to add a second League Two winners medal to his collection.
Peterhead are on a run of seven successive wins which has helped them recover from a sluggish start. But now they have finally found a winning formula, can they keep up the momentum?
The Blue Toon take on fellow promotion contenders, fourth-placed Stirling Albion, at Balmoor on Saturday.
