Inverness boxer Andrew Mackay has signed with management company MTK Scotland ahead of another push at the Scottish lightweight title.
Mackay, a three-time challenger for the Scottish Area belt, is targeting an April return to the ring with the view of being in championship contention by the summer.
He joins fellow Invernessian Gary Cornish,a heavyweight boxer, on the books of MTK.
Mackay has been in Cornish’s corner in his last two fights, including his comprehensive 90-second win over David Howe last Friday.
The 25-year-old Mackay said: “We’re hoping I’ll get back out in April.
“It’s been a while since I fought because of a few injuries and then I’ll be pushing for titles again in the summertime.
“There are a few scores I want to settle, especially with my two losses. They’re two fights I want but MTK have solid plans for me and I’ll push forward based on those.”
He lost on a technical decision to Ryan Collins in 2016 after a clash of heads forced an early stoppage to their title bout.
His second attempt at the title, this time against Aberdeen-based Pole Marek Laskowski, ended in a draw with Laskowski winning the September rematch in Glasgow.
MTK Scotland promoter Sam Kynoch added: “Andrew is a great addition to our stable – he has sparred at MTK Scotland on many occasions so I know that he has a boxing style which is pleasing for fans.
“I know Andrew is keen to box up in his hometown of Inverness and this is something we will be delivering for him. Having both Andrew and Gary Cornish in our stable creates a great basis for promotions in the Highlands.”
