Collin Seedorf says Caley Thistle fear nobody in their pursuit of the Championship promotion play-offs following last month’s IRN-BRU Cup triumph.
Inverness remain eighth in the table, but have the opportunity to move to within eight points of fourth-placed Dunfermline if John Robertson’s men triumph at home to bottom club Brechin City tonight.
Although the odds are stacked against Inverness, Dutch defender Seedorf reckons the late cup final victory over Dumbarton at Perth 10 days ago has given the club a fresh impetus.
Seedorf said: “It just gives the whole club a boost. We have had a lot of bad times recently, but we are happy to give the fans something back.
“Everybody feels good now, our heads are in the same direction.
“It was great, I really loved that day – I’m never going to forget it and I will keep my shirt.
“The fans were great, the atmosphere was great and to win with a last minute winner, after missing a penalty after 83rd minute – what a game that was.
“After winning the cup it has just given us a new feeling of freshness. We don’t even have to watch the team above us – we are just thinking ‘we are the cup champions – we are ready to take everyone on.’
“We are just going to try and get as many points as we can and at the end of it we will see where we stand.”
Despite playing all 90 minutes of the cup final, Seedorf has sat out the last two matches against Dundee United and St Mirren but the 22-year-old is ready to play his part in the end of season run-in, adding: “It’s busy weeks, we have two games a week so everybody needs to be fresh. We have a small squad with a lot of quality, we have good players in every position.
“It’s just about working every game for our own spot.
“The 2-2 draw against St Mirren on Saturday just directly showed how our season has been.
“We now feel we know each other’s qualities, we know each other better. We are getting better and with a comeback like that in a short time we have shown ourselves and the public what we are capable of.”
Seedorf, the nephew of former Dutch international midfielder Clarence, joined Caley Jags from RKC Waalwijk in his homeland last summer, and the right back says winning silverware ensures his debut season in Scotland will be a memorable one.
He added: “It’s my first season in a different country with a different way of playing.
“I have had good times and bad times but I have learned a lot.
“Before I came here I wanted to learn a different style of play, the Scottish way of playing and defending.
“It’s more the defending part and running work I’ve had to learn because we love to play different systems in Holland too.
“I think it’s a good thing the team is capable of playing different systems. Sometimes I can play as a wing back.
“It’s a little bit new for me but I’m getting there, and I’m now really feeling confident with defending everything. I have learned a lot.
“I’m really enjoying it, I’ve won my first trophy in my first season abroad and I’m enjoying Inverness.”
