Ross County kept their hopes of Premiership survival alive after coming from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Partick Thistle at Firhill.
The Jags took the lead through Chris Erskine midway through the first half, however County secured a timely boost three minutes before the break through Billy Mckay’s leveller.
Although County dominated the second half they were unable to find a breakthrough, meaning they remain two points adrift of Partick at the foot of the table with just two games remaining.
County made two changes from the side that went down 2-0 against Hamilton Accies the previous weekend, with Andrew Davies and Greg Tansey dropping out for Jason Naismith and Michael Gardyne.
There were early chances at both ends, with Billy Mckay unable to pick out strike partner Alex Schalk with a backheel after being released by Naismith’s low delivery from the right, while Thistle’s first attempt came on seven minutes when Conor Sammon nodded wide from Ryan Edwards’ cross.
Thistle took the lead on 22 minutes however, when Kris Doolan capitalised on Harry Souttar’s misjudgment before his delivery from the left flank was hammered home by Erskine.
County responded well to the setback, with Naismith seeing an effort blocked following a marauding run forward, before Liam Fontaine saw a header from Gardyne’s free kick held by Tomas Cerny.
The Staggies did make the breakthrough three minutes before half time however, when Gardyne’s free kick was cleared as far as Fontaine on the edge of the box, and his return ball over the top of the defence was met by Mckay who beat the offside trap before bundling home from close-range.
County took control of the second half and created several chances to get themselves ahead, with Gardyne twice coming close, firstly with a powerful effort which was palmed around the post by Cerny, before another strike flew narrowly over.
Fox had to be on his guard at the other end to palm substitute Miles Storey’s flick over, before making an outstanding save to deny Sammon at the death, however both sides had to settle for a point.
