Caley Thistle manager John Robertson has been linked with a return to newly-promoted Premiership club Livingston.
Livi are searching for a new manager after David Hopkin rejected the offer of a new contract in the wake of guiding the West Lothian club to back-to-back promotions from League 1 to the top-flight.
Robertson, who returned for a second spell in charge of Inverness last summer following a five-year absence from management, has also had two previous stints with Livingston. He began his coaching career with the Almondvale club towards the end of his playing days prior to joining Caley Jags the first time around in 2002, before returning as manager in February 2006 in a spell which ended with his dismissal 14 months later.
Following an excellent end to last season’s Championship campaign, which saw Inverness narrowly miss out on the play-offs, Robertson is reportedly being considered by Livi, who have also been linked with moves for John Hartson, Kevin Thomson and Jim Duffy.
Any move for Robertson is unlikely to be imminent however, with Livingston director John Ward insisting the club do not plan to draw up a short-list for the vacant manager’s job for at least another nine days.
Assistant manager David Martindale is leading the search for a replacement to Hopkin but is currently on holiday until next Saturday.
Ward, who has previously said the new manager must agree to work with the existing coaching and backroom team, said: “David Martindale is on holiday until a week on Saturday and won’t draw up the shortlist until then, so it will be a week or two before we’re making any announcements.
“He is speaking to people and taking calls and is continuing to work on this on the club’s behalf.”
The speculation has not prevented Robertson from stepping up his preparations for the new campaign, after the Highlanders completed a deal to sign forward Jordan White on a two-year-deal from English National League side Barrow.
The move marks a return to Scotland for attacker White, who left Livingston to join Wrexham two years ago. The 26-year-old moved on to Barrow 12 months ago, with White netting seven goals in 43 appearances for the Cumbrian outfit, who finished 20th in English football’s fifth-tier, last term.
Attacker White, who is 6ft 4in, also counts Falkirk, Stirling Albion, Clyde and Irish outfit Drogheda United among his former clubs.
