Former Celtic and Scotland midfielder Shaun Maloney has joined the coaching staff of the Belgium national side.
Maloney, who grew up in Aberdeen, worked with manager Roberto Martinez during his time at Wigan Athletic and will work alongside the Spaniard and assistant Thierry Henry, who has opted to remain with the Red Devils.
For the past season Maloney had been working with Celtic’s Development League side, following the end of his playing career with Hull City in May 2017.
He was capped 47 times by Scotland, scoring seven times, and also played for Aston Villa and Chicago Fire, along with two spells at Parkhead. Maloney was born in Malaysia but moved to Aberdeen at the age of five.
Belgium visit Scotland for a Hampden Park friendly next Friday, ahead of their first Uefa Nations League game against Iceland on 11 September. Scotland face Albania in their first game a day earlier.
