Ross County have signed defender Callum Semple from English Championship club Sheffield United.
Staggies co-managers Steven Ferguson and Stuart Kettlewell have moved to sign Semple on an 18-month deal, after the Englishman enjoyed a successful loan stint with Championship rivals Queen of the South earlier this season.
During his time with the Doonhamers, Semple made 27 appearances to help Gary Naysmith’s men break into the play-offs, with the 20-year-old opting to make a return to Scotland with the Dingwall side.
Semple becomes County’s second addition of the day, following the capture of Raith Rovers winger Daniel Armstrong.
The signings of Armstrong and Semple take County’s tally of January arrivals to four, following the additions of Kenny van der Weg and Lewis Spence.
