Caley Thistle manager John Robertson is hopeful of finalising a deal to bring Coleraine winger Darren McCauley to Caledonian Stadium.
McCauley is on the transfer list at the Showgrounds after indicating he was keen on a fresh move, with the 27-year-old reportedly agreeing terms on a move to Derry City last week.
Reports in Northern Ireland suggest Inverness have jumped to the front of the queue in their pursuit of former Republic of Ireland under-19 international McCauley, who had a short stint with Celtic as a youth player.
Robertson has confirmed he is keen to take McCauley on board before the end of the January transfer window, and he said: “He’s a player we are interested in. We are still in negotiations and still talking about that.
“We have tracked Darren for a while and made our interest known, and it’s another deal we are hopeful we can get over the line, but until it is there is nothing more we can say.”
Caley Jags have also been linked with a loan move for Hearts midfielder Anthony McDonald, with the 17-year-old having made just six first team appearances for the Tynecastle side this season.
