Caley Thistle chairman Graham Rae hopes today’s Scottish Cup semi final against Hearts at Hampden Park will be another memorable occasion for the club’s supporters to savour.
Inverness are making their first return to the national stadium since they won the competition courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Falkirk four years ago.
Craig Levein’s Jambos, who are sixth in the Premiership, stand in the way of a final against either Aberdeen or Celtic on May 25.
Having suffered relegation to the Championship since the famous 2015 triumph under John Hughes, the prospect of further cup glory is a huge incentive for Caley Jags, who are currently in the midst of their 25th anniversary celebrations.
Although Inverness will be outnumbered in today’s last-four tie at Hampden, with nearly 3,000 supporters expected compared to more than 17,000 Hearts fans, Rae hopes it is the Highlanders who are singing the loudest come full time this afternoon.
Rae, who took over as chairman from Willie Finlayson in 2017, said: “We are thrilled to be heading to Hampden Park once again and competing in a Scottish Cup semi final.
“The team and support staff have worked hard for all their success and we are most grateful for their extraordinary efforts.
“I’m very proud of everyone and excited for us to have the opportunity to play at the national stadium.
“We are especially thankful for the fantastic support of our many followers, volunteers and loyal sponsors.
“It’s a memorable day for the Highlands and let’s do our best for a great win.”
