Ross County chairman Roy MacGregor admits he could change his mind on reconstruction.
The Staggies were among the top-flight clubs who felt it was not the right time to consider reconstruction in the SPFL when revamp talks collapsed last month.
But with fears the Scottish Championship could be pushed back to a January start with an 18-game season, MacGregor accepts it may be incumbent on the top flight to reconsider reconstruction.
Hearts owner Ann Budge is set to take her proposal for temporary reconstruction to the top-flight clubs this week.
MacGregor said: “I am worried for lower-league football and particularly part-time clubs, who rely on gate receipts. I was horrified when I heard on Saturday that the Championship might consider playing only half a season.
“These things do worry me and I think we have a responsibility as 42 clubs to stick together and try to make sure everyone gets through this traumatic period.”
County made sporting director Scott Boyd redundant last week and have decided not to extend the deals of players, currently on furlough leave, who are reaching the end of their contracts.
The Staggies chairman believes the outlook for the whole of Scottish football is incredibly challenging.
He said: “We are in a health crisis and I think the worst is yet to come. I think we are going to have a tsunami of unemployment, mental health issues and big things to deal with as well as a lack of disposable income.
“The challenges ahead are more than we have had up to now. I am not being negative, I am just being a realist.”
MacGregor admitted he felt Scottish football was “in survival mode” but remained hopeful that the new Scottish Premiership season could restart in August.
He said: “I think we are aiming for the beginning of August. I had a mark in the sand that it might be September 1 but it would be great if it is the beginning of August.
“I’m sure that will come down to the government more than football.”
Meanwhile, Rangers are understood to have agreed a fee with Ross County for 16-year-old forward James Graham.
The striker, who has been on trial with Liverpool and Manchester United, is yet to agree personal terms.
Leeds United and Wolves are also reportedly keen to sign the Lewis-born player.
