Aberdeen’s Robbie Renwick has a major task on his hands if he is hoping to retain his 200m freestyle title at Tollcross this evening.
The 26-year-old finished second in his heat to Australian Cameron McEvoy who is the favourite to win gold.
Renwick was the fourth fastest qualifier for the final in a time of one minute 47.15 seconds.
McEvoy earned his spot in this evening’s final in one minute 46.39.
Fellow Aussie Thomas Fraser-Holmes is another contender for the title. They have the two fastest times in this event this year, significantly quicker than the one minute 47.88 that Renwick swam in Delhi.
McEvoy swam one minute 45.52 in the Australian swimming trials with Fraser-Holmes just 0.12 seconds behind.
