Aberdeen are set to make a move for Miles Storey as Derek McInnes looks to bolster his squad after five players left the club yesterday.
Swindon Town attacker Storey has scored 13 goals in 36 appearances while on loan at Caley Thistle this season.
The Robins have offered the 22-year-old a new deal but the forward is keen to remain in Scotland next season.
UPDATE: Miles Storey has now agreed to join the Dons
The Dons and Hearts are among a host of clubs who are tracking the former England under-19 international.
McInnes has said he hopes to announce two new signings over the next week after the club confirmed goalkeeper Scott Brown, defender Michael Rose and attacker David Goodwillie, who has been on loan at Ross County, will all be moving on.
Simon Church and Adam Collin, who had been on loan at Pittodrie, will return to their parent clubs MK Dons and Rotherham United. The Dons will also be without midfielder Barry Robson next season.
Robson retired after Sunday’s 4-0 defeat by Ross County.
Goalkeeper Aaron Lennox, who made his debut at the weekend, has agreed a new one-year deal, while Bournemouth forward Jayden Stockley has signed a pre-contract agreement.
McInnes is optimistic there will be more new signings.
He said: “I know what is required. We are on our way to doing what needs to be done. We have already made one signing.
“We are hopeful there will be another couple in the next week or so. I am certainly hopeful of another couple before the start of the season.”
Church, who scored six goals in 13 matches since arriving in January, will now turn his attention to representing Wales in this summer’s European championship finals.
The 27-year-old still has a year on his contract at MK Dons but has not ruled out a return to the Dons.
He said: “I would like to thank everyone at Aberdeen for giving me the opportunity to really enjoy my football again.
“I would like to thank the supporters as they make the club as big as it is and have been behind me all the way.
“I hope I have managed to put a smile on their faces a few times at least.
“Who knows what the future holds but I wish the club and everyone involved the very best.”
Aberdeen under-20 players Kalvin Orsi, Lukas Culjak, Sam Robertson and Liam Lambert have also left the club.
