Ross County have been linked with a move to sign former Wolves goalkeeper Aaron McCarey.
Staggies manager Jim McIntyre is on the lookout for a goalkeeper to challenge current first-choice Scott Fox, who recently signed a contract extension to keep him at Victoria Park until 2018.
Englishman Gary Woods spent the majority of last season on loan with the Dingwall side but is now a free agent following his release by parent club Leyton Orient.
That paves the way for McIntyre to try and lure Woods to the Highlands on a permanent contract but the Staggies manager is keen on a deal for Irishman McCarey, who has not been offered a new deal by Wolves following six-and-a-half years at the English Championship club.
McCarey joined Wolves from home-town club Monaghan United in January 2010 but has made just seven appearances for the West Midlands outfit.
The 24-year-old has been farmed out on loan several times during his stint with the club, having had spells at Walsall, York City, Portsmouth and Bury.
McCarey has 10 caps for the Republic of Ireland under-21 side, with his performances for Walsall earning him a call-up to the senior squad for a friendly against Spain in New York in June 2013.
