Aberdeen assistant manager Tony Docherty has backed new signing Jayden Stockley to be a success in Scottish football.
The 22-year-old will join the Dons on July 1 when his current deal with Bournemouth expires.
The Englishman scored 10 goals in 22 appearances while on loan at Exeter City last season. Stockley has spent time on loan at nine different clubs since making his debut for Bournemouth at the age of 16.
Docherty believes the 6ft 3in forward will give the Dons a greater goal threat next season.
He said: “He is a target man. He will bring a focal point to our attack. He is fantastic at getting on the end of crosses and he can link the play. He is a goalscorer.
“If you look at the statistical analysis we get after every game, we put in more crosses than any other team in the SPL.
“We need someone converting those chances.
“We have a lot of good build-up play but we need to finish that off and Jayden comes into that category.
“We need someone to help ease the burden on Adam Rooney. He has been fantastic but we need someone alongside him to help.
“Jayden is very highly regarded, so we are looking forward to working with him.”
The Dons have also signed Miles Storey on a pre-contract agreement and have been linked with a move for Conor Sammon.
The Irish international is a free agent after being released by Derby County yesterday.
Meanwhile, the SPFL have confirmed the new fixtures for the coming season will be released on Friday, June 17.
The draw for the group stages of the League Cup is expected to take place next week, although Celtic, Aberdeen, Hearts and the winners of today’s Scottish Cup final between Celtic and Rangers will go straight through to the knockout stages.
