Rangers are set to welcome Old Firm rivals Celtic to Ibrox on Hogmanay this year, sparking fears of violence and heavy drinking earlier in the day.
The football governing body, the Scottish Professional Football League, has confirmed that kick off has been moved from a 3pm to a 12.15pm start.
Despite concerns from campaigners, Police Scotland say the decision was taken alongside broadcasters and the SPFL.
Last week’s game saw effigies of Rangers fans hung at Celtic Park and toilets vandalised by away supporters.
Research has shown a spike in violence and disorder around Old Firm games, while rising levels of domestic abuse have also prompted police to take preventative action before meetings of the two sides.
