Elgin City manager Jim Weir reckons his players’ transformed away form gives them a greater chance of ending their Broadwood misery against Clyde today.
Elgin have won five of their six away matches in League 2 this season, equalling the number of victories they managed throughout last term.
The Black and Whites lost all three games in Cumbernauld last season, including a 3-1 loss in the first leg of their promotion play-off encounter in May, before Clyde progressed to the final with a 2-0 win at Borough Briggs.
Weir believes Elgin are better equipped to face Barry Ferguson’s side given their improvement on the road and he said: “We’ve got to treat every game with respect and Clyde are certainly one of the favourites for this league.
“We’ve not had too much to take away from Broadwood, we lost all three games there last season although we were a bit unlucky on a couple of occasions.
“We need to put that behind us and we are confident because we are in strong form.
“If we can go and perform the way we have been away from home, hopefully we can reverse our form there.”
City have moved to within a point of leaders Forfar Athletic, who they could leapfrog with a victory should the Loons fail to defeat Stirling Albion.
Clyde will move level on points with City if they defeat the Moray men.
Weir insists the race for the title is no two-horse race.
He added: “Forfar have had a sticky patch but it’s not just them. There are a few other teams around us, it’s a really tough league.
“We just have to make sure we are in the mix, although our three league wins have helped us close the gap and put pressure on the teams around us.”
