Ross County came from behind to secure a 1-1 drsw against Rangers in a thrilling encounter at Victoria Park.
Rangers had taken an early lead through Clint Hill’s header, however the Staggies showed a valiant response, with Andrew Davies nodding home to secure a point.
The result extends County’s wait for a victory to 10 games, however the bottom-placed Staggies move to within a point of 11th placed Dundee.
County manager Jim McIntyre made five changes from the side that fell to a 4-1 defeat against Motherwell last weekend. Paul Quinn, Martin Woods and Michael Gardyne were sidelined through injury, while Kenny van der Weg and Ian McShane dropped to the bench, with Jay McEveley, Erik Cikos, Chris Routis, Tim Chow and Craig Curran coming in.
The Staggies began promisingly but they fell behind through a soft goal on eight minutes, with Josh Windass’ corner finding its way straight to the head of Hill who bulleted home from close-range.
Rangers had further opportunities to add to their lead, with Lee Wallace picking out Kenny Miller who could only shoot into the side-netting, before Joe Garner was denied by a fine save from Scott Fox.
County levelled on 26 minutes however, when Chris Burke’s corner picked out the unmarked Davies who thumped a powerful header past Wes Foderingham.
The hosts ended the first-half on top and Rangers were fortunate to escape shortly before the interval when goalkeeper Foderingahm clearly handled James Tavernier’s pass-back under pressure from Liam Boyce to prevent the ball rolling into the net.
The second-half began at a similarly frantic pace, with Miller again thwarted by a fine save from the legs of Fox shortly after the break. Rangers continued to control but County enjoyed a late flurry of chances, with Chow scooping an effort over and Boyce drilling just wide of target after being picked out by substitute Alex Schalk.
The Gers spurned an excellent late chance of their own when Tavernier was released in plenty of space inside the box, but he slipped his effort wide with the goal gaping, while Schalk saw his fizzing long-range effort scrambled behind by Foderingham.
