McIntyre looking to make up for dropped points at home

Ross County manager Jim McIntyre is determined to make up for dropped points at Dingwall by ending his side’s long wait for a home win against Hamilton Accies today.

The Staggies have failed to record a home victory since their 2-0 triumph against Kilmarnock on August 20, in what remains their only win in six league games at Victoria Park this season.

This afternoon’s game is the first of five home matches the Staggies play before the winter break in January, and McIntyre is eager to kick start an improved run of results at Dingwall.

He said: “We have not picked up enough points, especially against the teams we feel we have a better chance of beating. We have produced good performances against the bigger sides here, but not taken the points we have deserved.

“Where we have let ourselves down is in our defeats against St Johnstone and Dundee and the 1-1 draw with Motherwell where we had good chances to go two or three up before we were hanging on for a draw after we lost a man. These are the types of games that we would want to be taking care of at home.”

Hamilton have won just twice in the league this season, including a 1-0 win against the Staggies at New Douglas Park in August, with Martin Canning’s side squandering a 3-1 lead against Hearts on Monday before having to settle for a 3-3 draw.

McIntyre reckons his side’s start to the game will be crucial, and he added: “We are coming up against a good Hamilton side, who showed when they beat us earlier in the season that they are a good team. We will have to be at our best to beat them. Games at this level are so tight. If we don’t start games properly and get that first goal then it can be a long afternoon.

“They have also drawn a number of games at home after losing goals late in games. They do though have plenty of spirit in their side and they have quality in one or two key positions where they can hurt the opposition, so they are always a tough team to play against. They are never easy games. They performed well on Monday night and should have won.”
