Ross County midfielder Tim Chow reckons the Staggies can be pleased if they record a Premiership derby victory against Caley Thistle tomorrow.
Despite losing their last two games against Partick Thistle and Celtic, Jim McIntyre’s Staggies remain just a point off sixth place having previously gone six matches undefeated.
The Dingwall men are looking to return to winning ways against their Highland rivals at Victoria Park tomorrow in the final game before a three-week winter break.
Chow believes recent performances have deserved better outcomes, and he is determined to show the extent of the Staggies’ improvement by finishing the year with a flourish.
The 22-year-old said: “It’s the last game for us before the winter break, so hopefully we can sign off on a high. It’s important we go into the break with a victory.
“Looking at the last eight games, we’ve done quite well apart from the big disappointment of the Partick game.
“Before that we were outstanding and should have taken more points than we did. We played some really good football in that spell, so it would be nice to add three points before the new year.
“We haven’t been ruthless enough at times and taken the chances our football has deserved.
“It has sometimes come back to haunt us but the main thing is we’re playing well and we can hopefully take that into Saturday.”
Chow has enjoyed a recent run in the side, impressing alongside Frenchman Christopher Routis at the heart of the Staggies midfield.
The former Wigan Athletic midfielder is eagerly anticipating his first Highland derby.
He added: “Since I first came here, I’ve spoken about wanting to play matches and establish myself in the team. And, above all, to enjoy playing football again.
“That’s what I’m doing – I’m keeping my head down and focusing on one game at a time and just trying to keep myself in the team.
“Myself and Christopher Routis are striking up a good understanding. It’s a good partnership and I think we both find it easy playing with each other. I feel we complement each other.
“I’m looking forward to it. Before coming here, I knew nothing about the fixture but I’ve asked a lot of supporters, players and staff about what it means. I’ve got some understanding of what it’s all about.”
