Caley Thistle manager Richie Foran is growing concerned about the lack of response from English Championship club Fulham in his attempts to extend to midfielder Larnell Cole’s loan deal.
Foran is eager to tie up a deal to keep the Englishman at Caledonian Stadium until the end of the season, with his current arrangement due to end shortly after tomorrow’s Highland derby against Ross County at Victoria Park.
Cole has impressed recently despite Caley Jags’ poor form which has seen them slump to the bottom of the Premiership but Foran is becoming increasingly frustrated by the Cottagers’ silence over the 23-year-old’s future.
Foran said: “We’ve had no positive news. We’ve had one text message from the secretary saying they’ll get back to us on Wednesday and they didn’t, which is disappointing. I’m going to have a chat to Larnell to make sure this is where he sees himself.
“I spoke to him two or three weeks ago and he told me this is where he wants to be until May. I need to hear it from him again. I’ll need to get Larnell to contact Fulham and it’s disappointing not to hear anything back. It’s up on January 7.
“We contacted them three weeks ago – we’ve phoned and emailed them. They’re slow getting back and it worries me.
“I told Larnell I wanted to keep him here and he said he wanted to stay because he was getting game time. I told him he’d keep getting game time if he kept performing and he has been.”
With Caley Jags on an alarming nine-game run without a victory, Foran is keen to strengthen his squad in next month’s transfer window irrespective of whether he can secure a deal for Cole.
He added: “I’m speaking to a couple of players but until they sign we don’t know. Some agents use you to get on to a different club. But we’re speaking to a few.
“I’m delighted with the squad but we need to freshen up things, even if it’s just one face. It’s always good to bring one or two in during the window and we’re looking to do that.”
