Aberdeen progressed to the last 16 of the Scottish Cup with a comfortable 4-0 victory against Stranraer at Pittodrie.
Goals from Adam Rooney and Niall McGinn gave the Dons a deserved lead at the break over the League 1 side.
A Rooney penalty five minutes into the second half and another strike from McGinn soon after killed off the contest.
This was a stroll for the Dons but tougher tests lie ahead if they are to end a 27-year wait to get their hands back on the Scottish Cup once again.
The Dons stuck with the same starting line-up for the fourth as they attempted to avoid falling at the first hurdle in the Scottish Cup for the third successive season.
This was a much easier proposition than their previous two assignments at Hearts and Dundee with Stranraer sitting at the bottom of League One and having parted company with manager Brian Reid only days before this tie.
The Dons should have opened the scoring after five minutes when the unmarked Andrew Considine headed over from a Niall McGinn corner.
The first shot on target came from the visitors with Joe Lewis diving low to keep out a low drive from Willie Gibson.
Aberdeen were finding lots of space to exploit in the Stranraer final third and went close again soon after with Jonny Hayes crossing for McGinn, whose header was clawed away by Blues stopper Cameron Belford.
Kenny McLean’s ambitious attempt to lob Belford from well inside his own half was comfortably dealt with by the Stranraer number one before the Dons made the breakthrough with half on hour on the clock.
A deep cross from McGinn was knocked down by Hayes for Rooney to blast the ball beyond Belford from eight yards out.
That settled the nerves and it took only five minutes for the Dons to notch a second with McLean setting up McGinn who raced away from the Stranraer defence before slotting beyond Belford with his left foot.
The Dons sensed blood and it took two fine stops from the overworked Stranraer goalkeeper to prevent Hayes and Ash Taylor from getting on the scoresheet.
The home side were gifted a third goal only five minutes into the second half when an Andrew Considine cross was needlessly handled in the penalty area by Stranraer defender Morgyn Neill and Rooney calmly swept home the resulting spot-kick.
Northern Ireland international McGinn netted the game’s fourth five minutes later when he cut inside before unleashing a fizzing effort into the bottom corner from just inside the penalty area.
The draw for the fifth round takes place tomorrow after the final tie of the round between Albion Rovers and Celtic.
