Aberdeen-born midfielder Stuart Armstrong’s highlight of the season is his Scotland debut in the World Cup qualifier against Slovenia at Hampden Park and believes Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is building something special at Parkhead.
The former Dundee United player said: “It’s been a terrific season and we have dominated the league and we are in a cup final.
“There have been a lot of good points in the season, winning the (Betfred) Cup final in November was a good moment for the team, as was winning the league title.
“When the season is all finished we can look back and be pleased about a lot of aspects, but my personal highlight was the Scotland cap. It has worked well for me not thinking too far ahead, focusing on each day and each training session and each game and keeping things very simple.”
Armstrong was been transformed into a pivotal part of Rodgers’ team this season after playing a lesser role under predecessor Ronnie Deila and said: “Domestically we have been the best but there have been a lot of good individual performers and it’s good they get recognition as well.
“There is a feeling the manager is building something quite special. You have seen the impact he has had in his first season and as we continue to improve in each game then he’s building something quite exciting.”
Armstrong’s Celtic team-mate Moussa Dembele is also among three Celtic players on the young player of the year short-list along with Kieran Tierney, Patrick Roberts and Hibernian attacker Jason Cummings.
