Pedro Caixinha has been sacked by Rangers – just hours after insisting he was still the manager.
The Portuguese manager has paid the price for the club’s Betfred Cup semi-final defeat to Motherwell on Sunday and the 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock at Ibrox last night.
The result leaves the Gers fourth in the Premiership, eight points adrift of champions Celtic after 10 games.
Rangers chairman Dave King called an emergency board meeting at Ibrox this morning but refused to comment when he left the club this morning for his flight back to South Africa.
Caixinha, who took training this morning, insisted: “Of course I am” when asked if he was still manager as he left training at lunchtime but his seven month tenure, in which he failed to win three games in a row, is at an end.
