Aberdeen midfielders Scott Wright and Lewis Ferguson have been called up to the Scotland under-21 squad to face Andorra and the Netherlands next month.
Wright already has four caps for Scot Gemmill’s side and impressed in the 4-0 win over St Mirren on Saturday while Ferguson, a summer arrival from Hamilton Accies, steps up from the under-19s after starting all five games for the Dons this season.
The under-21s take on Andorra at Tynecastle on September 6, a day before the senior side face Belgium at Hampden Park. They travel to the Stadion de Vijvenberg, home of Eerste Divisie side De Graafschap, on September 11.
Gemmill’s side sit third in Group Four, eight points behind runaway leaders England, who they play in their last qualification match at Tynecastle in October. That game comes four days after their final away trip of the campaign against Ukraine.
