Greg Morrison aims to give Ross County co-managers Stuart Kettlewell and Steven Ferguson a headache by making the most of his loan spell with Elgin City.
Attacker Morrison has joined the Black and Whites on loan until January, having fallen down the pecking order at Victoria Park following the arrival of fellow strikers Declan McManus, Brian Graham and Ross Stewart.
The 20-year-old is out of contract at Dingwall next summer, but he believes a prolific spell in League 2 can help him catch the eye of his Staggies bosses.
Morrison said: “With the quality of players we’ve got at County, it’s going to be hard to get regular and consistent game time.
“I’m going out on loan to Elgin to try and get a run of games together and hopefully get me scoring again.
“Hopefully after the six months the managers have seen what I can do at Elgin, and I can put the question in their minds about whether to play me at County for the remaining six months.”
It is not Morrison’s first loan stint, having spent six months in the Championship with Dumbarton last season where he netted once in 15 appearances.
Morrison, who is from Mulben near Keith, is hopeful his spell with Gavin Price’s side will be more productive than his time with the Sons, adding: “I learned about myself as a player at Dumbarton and the level I was at. Each game was different and I had to approach it in a different way.
“It was a big learning curve for me and it was good, I just think the way they played didn’t suit me. I think Elgin will be a lot better for me.
“It will make a difference with Elgin being just 30 minutes from my house compared to Dumbarton, which was down the A9.”
Morrison could make his Elgin debut in today’s League 2 match at home to Cowdenbeath, and although the Moray side have succeeded in a long pursuit of the attacker he knows he will have strong competition for a place in Price’s side.
He added: “I was close to signing for them last season and they have been after me for a long time.
“It’s good to know they did want me. It shows the manager has faith in me, that he has been wanting me for that long.
“Shane Sutherland has been banging them in for however many years, while Chris McLeish got on the scoresheet last week.
“It will be tough to get into the team, but hopefully I can break in and keep my place.
“I’m 100% ready so hopefully I will get the nod from the manager to start the game, then I can take it from there.”
