Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna has been offered a two-match ban for his challenge on Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard.
McKenna was not punished during the game on Saturday by referee Bobby Madden, however the Scottish FA have issued a fast-track complaint against the Dons man.
The Dons have expressed their shock at the decision and intend to appeal.
A club spokesperson said: “It came as a total shock to learn that Scott has been cited for an incident where the referee deemed there was no offence committed and we have subsequently lodged an appeal.”
The centre-back has already missed a month of the season through a hamstring injury and manager Derek McInnes is without defenders Mark Reynolds and Tommie Hoban long-term.
