Derek McInnes and Sam Cosgrove have won the Premiership’s manager and player of the month awards for December.
Aberdeen boss McInnes led his team to victory in six of their eight league games last month, with Cosgrove’s seven goals a huge factor in the Dons’ improved form.
That run of form has seen the Dons move away from the bottom half of the table and firmly embed themselves in the race for European places once again.
Prior to December, Cosgrove’s only two goals had come in a 4-1 win over St Mirren in October. However, he scored in five consecutive games last month, including braces against the Saints and Dundee, and it helped net him a contract extension until 2022.
A total of 18 points from 24 over a hectic festive period leaves Aberdeen in fourth on 39 points – three behind leaders Celtic and two off Kilmarnock a spot above.
They resume after the winter break with a Scottish Cup fourth round tie against Stenhousemuir at Pittodrie, before their first league game against Hamilton at New Douglas Park on January 23.
The Dons are currently out in Dubai on a winter training camp at the Jebel Ali Centre of Excellence.
