Aberdeen have terminated the contract of summer signing Chris Forrester.
He made only eight appearances – one start – since arriving from Peterborough for a reported £200,000.
Manager Derek McInnes said: “It’s with a lot of sadness and regret that we’ve terminated Chris’s contract. At his request we’ve allowed him to be back with his family in Ireland.
“He’s had a lot to contend with in his personal life and as a club, we have an understanding of the situation and we wish him well with his future career.”
Forrester’s only start came against St Johnstone, in which he was substituted at half-time. After two-and-a-half months without a game, he returned as a substitute in the 5-1 win over Dundee in December.
