Holders Ross County will begin their defence of the newly-rebranded Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup when their colts team travel to Fraserburgh in the opening round.
The Staggies won last season’s competition, which was sponsored by IRN-BRU, courtesy of a 3-1 final victory over Connah’s Quay Nomads at Caledonian Stadium in March.
That was the first instalment in a double-winning campaign for Stuart Kettlewell and Steven Ferguson’s men, who went on to clinch the Championship title.
County’s promotion means it will be Richie Brittain’s colts side who take part in this year’s competition, with a trip to the Broch their first assignment.
Last year’s Highland League runners-up Brora Rangers will host Paul Sheerin’s Aberdeen colts, while Elgin City will travel to Hibernian colts.
Formartine United will travel to Livingston colts, with a round two trip to Peterhead at stake for the winner, while newly-promoted League 2 side Cove Rangers will face St Johnstone colts away.
