Scott Boyd will complete the formalities of extending his stay at Ross County next week after agreeing a new one-year deal with the club.
The Staggies’ longest-serving player, who will celebrate his 28th birthday next week, has made more than 200 appearances for the club and his new deal will make it an eighth season at Victoria Park.
Boyd joined the Staggies on loan from Partick Thistle in 2007, signing a permanent contract in January 2008, and he has gone on to play a key part in the club’s rise to the top flight of Scottish football.
Boyd said: “I don’t want to say too much until it’s signed but I’m pleased to have agreed a new contract which I will sign next week when director of football George Adams returns from holiday.”
The 6ft 2in defender becomes the latest player signed up for next season’s campaign.
The Staggies have already secured Raith Rovers midfielder Joe Cardle on a pre-contract agreement and handed fresh deals to defender Steven Saunders and goalkeeper Mark Brown.
Manager Derek Adams is pleased to have secured the services of Boyd, who has developed into an accomplished and popular figure at Victoria Park.
He said: “Scott has made a significant contribution to our club and I am happy he has decided to continue on our journey.
“He is now one of our senior players after first coming here as a young player.”
Boyd, who was an integral part of the club’s run to the Scottish Cup final in 2010, helped the Staggies finish seventh in the Scottish Premiership, ensuring top-flight football for a third successive campaign.
