David Goodwillie has highlighted the influence of Derek McInnes and Tony Docherty in convincing him to join Aberdeen.
The 25-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the Dons following his release by English Championship club Blackburn Rovers.
Goodwillie played alongside Dons manager McInnes and under assistant manager Docherty at Dundee United and is relishing the chance to play for the duo again at Pittodrie.
He said: “The manager didn’t have to convince me very hard because I know the history of Aberdeen and how big a club it is, and I jumped at the opportunity.
“Tony was my reserve coach at Dundee United when I was growing up and he was always kind to me and helped me progress.
“Derek was the captain at Dundee United when I was 16 and 17 and I have a lot of respect for him.”
