Ross County chairman Roy MacGregor insists the club will take its time in appointing a new manager.
The Staggies have received more than 80 applications for the role following Derek Adams’ dismissal a week ago.
MacGregor is delighted with the quality of applications and has pledged his club will take its time in selecting its new manager.
Assistant manager Stevie Ferguson, who was placed in charge on a caretaker basis following Adams’ departure, has agreed to continue until a new man is in place.
MacGregor said: “There are a lot of managers and coaches out of work, so I’m not sure if the number is significant, but it’s the quality of people that’s amazed me.
“I will sit down with my board and look at what Ross County requires for the next three-to-five years.
“Once we have formed that we will have a look at the applications and draw up a shortlist.
“We’re delighted with the quality of applicants and the onus here is on myself and the directors to understand what we require.
“It’s important we get it right as I’m conscious of the fact we haven’t got any points on the board yet.”
