Goalkeeper Jamie Langfield, dropped from Aberdeen’s line-up for last Friday’s Scottish Premiership match against Motherwell, got an outing with the Dons under-20 side last night.
Langfield could not prevent a 10-man young Dons line-up losing 3-2 against Dundee at Dens Park.
Martin Boyle netted after 10 minutes to give the hosts a half-time lead but Cammy Smith levelled the scores within a minute of the restart.
However, the game’s turning point came in the 53rd when Michael Rose conceded a penalty for a foul on Josh Skelly and was sent off for a second bookable offence.
Lee Cameron put the Dark Blues back in front by sending Langfield the wrong way at the resulting spot kick. Cameron netted a stunning third goal for Dundee with a 25-yard strike two minutes from time.
Marcus Campanile netted a consolation goal in injury time but Dundee held on for the win.
