Aberdeen will not appeal the red card shown to defender Shaleum Logan in the aftermath of Sunday’s controversial 2-1 defeat by Celtic at Pittodrie.
The 26-year-old was sent off in the tunnel for comments made towards referee Alan Muir and his officials as tensions ran high following Virgil van Dijk’s last-minute goal gave 10-man Celtic victory.
Dons manager Derek McInnes felt the officials should have shown more sympathy towards Logan who had been at the centre of the Aleksandar Tonev racism row in the build-up to Sunday’s fixture.
The Bulgaria international was handed a seven-match ban by the SFA for racist remarks made towards Logan in September’s meeting between the sides but Celtic have since appealed the decision.
But Aberdeen are not expected to lodge an appeal of their own to get Logan’s red card overturned.
That means the Dons will be without Logan for their next match at Partick Thistle on November 23 after the international break.
Irish midfielder Willo Flood is also set to miss the trip to Firhill and could be set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines.
The Dons will learn today how long the 29-year-old will be out for after suffering a torn hamstring in the opening minutes of Sunday’s match against the Hoops.
