Turriff manager Ross Jack was delighted with the way his players snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with two late goals against Wick Academy at Harmsworth Park.
Leading 1-0 then 2-1 Turriff lost two goals in a six-minute spell late in the second half to go behind for the first time. But just as it looked as if the victory was beyond them goals from Aaron McKenna and Gary Harris put them over the finishing line.
Turriff were not prepared to settle for a draw and they grabbed the winner with seconds to spare.
Jack said: “It was a very entertaining game. There was some great football played and some excellent goals. I’m delighted we came out on top. There is a belief in this team – a great determination. Not many teams win here, it is a really tough place to go and you can see why Wick had been on such a good run. They work hard for each other and get stuck in.”
Despite Turriff stretching their unbeaten run to 15 games, Jack is not interested in talk of winning championships.
He said: “We’ll give it a good shot but Brora have an outstanding team. They just go from strength to strength.
“We can’t go down the route of spending big money, we’ve just got to make the players we have much better and add one or two if we can.
“Nobody is getting carried away – nobody is talking about league championships, or talking about finishing first, second, third or fourth.
“We just want to do the best we can.”
