Aberdeen’s Scottish Cup campaign came to an end this afternoon with a painful defeat at Dens Park.
An enthralling cup tie had the most dramatic of endings as David Clarkson sent Dundee through to the next round with the winner in the 90th minute.
Aberdeen started brightly but Thomas Konrad headed Dundee into the lead with their first attack of the match, in the fifth minute.
The game raced from end to end and it came as no surprise when the scoreline was added to in the 17th minute when Konrad could only deflect Niall McGinn’s cross beyond his own goalkeeper to level the scores.
Both teams pushed for a winner but it was Dundee who found it as on form striker David Clarkson netted his eighth goal in eight games to win the match in the 90th minute.
However, there was still more drama to follow as McGinn saw his volley hit the bar, bounce on the line, hit the bar again and somehow run clear at which stage it was clear it just was not Aberdeen’s day.
