Aberdeen will not make a formal complaint about Dundee United’s Paul Paton allegedly spitting on Dons midfielder Jonny Hayes.
The Northern Ireland international was booked by referee Crawford Allan for a foul on Hayes in the 78th minute as Aberdeen ran out 2-0 winners at Tannadice on Saturday.
SFA compliance officer Tony McGlennan is studying footage of the incident which appeared to show Paton spitting at Hayes following the clash.
But it is understood the Pittodrie club have spoken to Hayes who confirmed that Paton did not spit on him.
It was the former Partick Thistle player’s sixth booking of the season and he will now serve a one match ban after crossing over the disciplinary points threshold.
He will sit out the Tayside derby against St Johnstone on December 27.
