Ross County goalkeeper Antonio Reguero was hugely frustrated by the 1-0 defeat against Hamilton Accies after a performance which infuriated manager Jim McIntyre.
Martin Canning’s sixth-minute header was decisive in Dingwall, with County failing to make the most of their chances.
Last weekend’s 2-2 draw against Motherwell moved the Staggies off the foot of the Premiership, and although County remain in 11th place thanks to Well’s 1-0 win against St Mirren, the Steelmen’s victory meant they edged five points ahead of the Dingwall outfit.
Reguero felt his side under performed, with the Spaniard bemoaning their start to the game. He said: “We expected more from this game – the three points – and we really worked hard this week. It’s a shame.
“Sometimes it’s very frustrating because the opposition score first and it’s always really difficult to get back into the game. But we need to keep going and the games ahead are so important.
“If we score first we’ll have a chance to play better and get some confidence. But the problem is the opposition always seem to score first. Against Motherwell last week we scored first and played better after that.
“Everyone, me included, needs to show character and be more ruthless.”
Reguero has recently been restored to County’s starting line-up, with manager Jim McIntyre giving the former Caley Thistle stopper the nod ahead of Mark Brown.
The 32-year-old is determined to keep his place and repay his manager’s faith.
Reguero added: “I have worked hard since I was dropped and it’s good to get the chance again. I wasn’t nervous.
“Mark Brown and I are competing for the place during the week and working very well with Scott Thomson, the goalkeeping coach.”
McIntyre was angry with the performance and said: “It’s so disappointing. We’ve been giving the team a lot of praise but that first 45 was unacceptable, really poor.
“We’ve got to show a bigger reaction when we lose a goal. We’re at home and we need to give our supporters a lift.
“In the second half we had some good chances to score but couldn’t take them.”
