Ross County held champions Celtic to a goalless draw thanks to a dogged defensive display at Parkhead.
The Dingwall men have never won at Celtic Park but managed to come away with a point against Ronny Deila’s side after successfully stifling a blunt Hoops attack.
However the result did not prevent County dropping to the foot of the Scottish Premiership following St Mirren’s victory against Dundee.
The Staggies were without their impressive creative midfielder Tony Dingwall as well as Jackson Irvine, who was ineligible to play against his parent club.
They made four changes from the team defeated 1-0 by Hamilton Accies last week with Scott Boyd, former Celt Graham Carey, Filip Kiss and Terry Dunfield all returning with Joe Cardle and Michael Gardyne both dropping to the bench.
However they were forced to make a late change before the game kicked off with Gardyne stepping in for Carey who suffered a back spasm during the warm up.
Celtic, who made one change with Leigh Griffiths replacing James Forrest, also went into the match on the back of a defeat following their 2-1 reverse at Dundee United.
Celtic also had to make an early change to their gameplan when Anthony Stokes, who had scored five goals in his five previous matches against the Staggies, limped off and was replaced by Callum McGregor with only nine minutes on the clock.
The switch didn’t prevent Celtic bossing possession in the first half but County stood firm with Staggies stopper Antonio Reguero showing great agility to hold on to John Guidetti’s free kick before keeping out Nir Bitton’s close range header.
The Hoops dominated the second period but it was County who almost stole the points when Filip Kiss struck the post with a fine effort from distance five minutes from time.
