Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has distanced himself from talk that the Dons are ready for a title challenge but believes there is plenty more to come for his side.
Seven successive wins without conceding a goal has propelled the Dons into top position in the Scottish Premiership and they will look to make it eight in a row when they travel to St Mirren on Saturday.
His side may be the form team in the country but McInnes has been quick to play down talk of a first Dons league title for 30 years.
He said: “There are a lot of games to go. We are just pleased with the current run because at the start of December we were a good bit behind.
“We were sitting about fourth or fifth but we knew we had games to come against the teams in and around us. To have come through that period with seven wins out of seven and no goals conceded shows what can be done.
“I am pleased with what I have got but I think the players are honest enough to know we can dig deep for more. If we can do that then we will be delighted. We are just looking for that improvement this season.
“Where that improvement takes us remains to be seen. We just have to make sure we impose ourselves on teams. We have good players and a good squad and we are a difficult team to play against.”
Champions Celtic will be inactive this weekend as they head to Gran Canaria on a mid-season break, which will give the Dons the opportunity to get some more points on the board before the Hoops return to face Hamilton a week on Saturday.
McInnes said: “We are just enjoying it. There is such a long way to go. The Christmas and new year period does test your professionalism and focus but I think we have come through that brilliantly.
“If we start to look too far ahead of ourselves that can question the focus and concentration and before you know it we are losing a game and getting a slap in the face.
“I think our approach has been spot on. We are giving ourselves a chance to win games because the confidence and performances have been good. With that momentum the job becomes slightly easier.”
McInnes, meanwhile, was delighted to have Willo Flood back in the squad for Sunday’s victory against Motherwell.
The Irish midfielder has been missing since the 2-1 defeat to Celtic on November 9 because of a hamstring injury.
The 29-year-old may face a fight to force his way back into a team on a seven game winning run but McInnes is pleased to have the industrious defensive midfielder back fit and available.
He added: “It is brilliant to get Willo back in. He is such an influential player for me.
“He is exactly the type we are going to need in the weeks ahead. It is brilliant to get him on the pitch.”
