Aberdeen defender Ash Taylor would not have traded last week’s 2-0 win against St Mirren for the chance to enjoy a week in the sun.
While Premiership title rivals Celtic were enjoying a warm-weather training camp in Gran Canaria, the Dons opened up a four-point gap at the top with victory at Paisley.
Aberdeen have now won eight on the bounce without conceding a goal and, ahead of today’s visit of Dundee, Taylor says the games cannot come quickly enough for his side.
He said: “I’m not sure how Celtic will feel because I don’t know what type of players they are. Would we have wanted a break? No, we want the games as quick as we can to keep the momentum going. It’s only good for us to play every game that comes along.
“Momentum is important because you want that and to be consistent. You want games to come along quickly.”
Taylor penned a one-year extension to his Dons deal on Thursday, which will keep him at Pittodrie until 2017. The 24-year-old says he is delighted with how he has settled in to life with the Reds.
He said: “It’s very quick to sign a new contract after just joining a club but I’m really enjoying it here. Things are going well and the manager seems very happy, too, so it just made sense for me to sign again. The move has gone really well for me and it’s brilliant to be part of what’s happening here.
“The supporters have been great with me, they give us great backing, so everything is going really well. I didn’t think at this stage we’d be where we are and it’s nice but we’re just taking every game as it comes.
“We’ve put a lot of hard work in on the training ground but we know we’ve got to keep that going.”
Taylor said the Dons feel they have a score to settle against Paul Hartley’s Dundee, who dumped them out of the Scottish Cup in November.
The defender added: “The last goal we conceded was against Dundee and that was really disappointing. We played well that day but just couldn’t get the goals we needed.”
