Ross County midfielder Filip Kiss reckons the revolving door at Victoria Park has made it difficult to achieve a settled team this season.
Kiss initially arrived on a six-month loan from Cardiff City last January but extended his deal in the summer to remain at the club for the duration of this season.
The Slovakian has witnessed huge changes over the past year.
No fewer than 21 players have joined the Staggies since the end of last season, with 18 departing in that time, while in September Jim McIntyre replaced the sacked Derek Adams.
Kiss reckons consistency of selection has been impossible during the period of transition and feels that is a key factor in County currently sitting bottom of the Premiership.
Ahead of today’s league game against Celtic in Dingwall (12.45), Kiss said: “Every team needs time to gel.
“Since I came to the club last season, I think only six or seven players have stayed from the squad of 20 we had.
“It’s a massive change and it always takes time to gel.
“A lot of players came in and went out and that’s maybe something that hasn’t helped us to be a team and a unit – especially going through the harder times when the team isn’t playing well but can still get out of games with a point.
“We’ve missed that this season but I’m sure it will come.
“The new players need time to gel. There are still players coming in, so hopefully we will stick together and get points on board to avoid relegation.
“Every game is massive for us, every game is a cup final. We’ve got the ability for sure.”
The Staggies welcome the Hoops to Victoria Park and need points soon, having fallen four points behind St Mirren at the bottom with just 17 games left.
Although the visit of the champions may seem daunting, County can take heart from a spirited 0-0 draw against Ronny Deila’s side at Parkhead last month.
Kiss went close to netting the winner in the dying moments that day when his shot hit the post and the 24-year-old is determined to go one better if he gets the opportunity today.
Kiss added: “It should give us big confidence because we did it at Celtic Park. We want to make sure we can do it again and be hard to beat. We need to try and get something out of this game. I hit the post last time, so I need to make sure this time it goes into the net.”
