Today we saw Celtic extend their lead at the top of the SPFL Premiership, while the three teams at the bottom of the league were cut further adrift.
Down south, Chelsea and Manchester City were knocked out in a day of FA Cup madness.
But let’s be honest, it’s January so all the real action was happening off the pitch!
Kris Commons
After scoring the only goal in today’s game with Ross County Kris Commons almost teased the Hoops faithful when questioned on his future.
He has yet to sign a new Parkhead deal and has been strongly linked with a move to Neil Lennon’s Bolton.
Asked whose hands the contract situation was in, he said: “It is in the hands of Celtic, maybe? Peter Lawwell, the board, they have all got a part to play if they want me to stay for the next couple of years.
“I have said that I don’t want to leave, this is where I belong.
“I am comfortable here but everything has to be right for the club and myself.
“My agent is speaking to them, they are speaking to me, they want me to stay, I want to stay but we can’t agree on something minute.”
Darren Fletcher
Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher will decide in the next five days where his future lies.
The Scotland captain has been attracting interest from a number of clubs, with Celtic the latest club to be linked with the player who is out of contract this summer.
West Ham and West Brom have both confirmed they are in talks to sign Fletcher, while Spanish giants Valencia are also weighing up a move.
Shaun Maloney
Wigan have confirmed that Scotland international Shaun Maloney is to move on, with a Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire said to be all but finalised.
Ryan McGowan
Australia international right back Ryan McGowan has joined Dundee United.
The former Hearts defender told United’s website: “It is great to be back in the Scottish Premiership and I’m excited about the challenge of being a United player.”
Papiss Cisse
Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse could be on the move after he was offered a mind blowing £150,000-a-week by Chinese side Shanghai SIPG, according to Metro.
Cisse has also been linked with a January move to Galatasaray.
Lucas Silva
Big spending Spaniards Real Madrid have splashed the cash to sign Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva from Cruzeiro.
The 21-year-old has signed a five-and-a-half year deal and will be officially presented at the Bernabeu on Monday.
The new signing told Spanish newspape AS: “It is a unique opportunity in life, a dream realised. I am very happy with this moment.”
