Ross County are keen to sign Queen of the South midfielder Ian McShane before Monday’s transfer deadline.
The 22 year-old worked under Staggies manager Jim McIntyre at Palmerston, but is under contract with the Doonhamers until 2016 meaning a transfer fee will be required.
County have already had one approach knocked back for McShane, but the Dingwall side have now returned with an improved offer.
McShane has made 79 appearances for James Fowler’s men, after making his debut as an 18 year-old in a 3-0 win against Falkirk in January 2011.
McIntyre is determined to add new faces to his squad before the end of the transfer window, with the Staggies four points adrift of St Mirren at the foot of the Premiership.
The manager has already brought in four new players, with Craig Curran, Cameron Burgess, Marcus Fraser and Darvydas Sernas signing for the Victoria Park club.
