Staggies in double signing swoop

Ross County have made a double signing swoop, adding midfielder Ruben Palazuelos and attacker Raffaele De Vita to their squad.

De Vita, 27, is a free agent after being released by Cheltenham Town last month. The former Swindon Town and Bradford City player made 13 appearances for the League Two side.

The Italian began his career with Blackburn Rovers but failed to make an appearance for the Ewood Park side before joining Livingston in 2008.

He spent three years in Scotland helping Livi to the Third Division title in 2010 and the Second Division title the following season before joining Paolo di Canio’s Swindon Town in 2011.

Palazuelos, 31, has been training with the Staggies this week after being released by Cypriot outfit Ermis Aradippou in November.

The Spaniard has spent the bulk of his career in his homeland, but has previous experience of Scottish football having signed for Hearts in 2007 before spending four years with the Tynecastle club.

Last season Palazuelos had a stint with Yeovil Town, but couldn’t prevent their relegation from the English Championship.

County manager Jim McIntyre was pleased to add some experience to his squad, with his January signings total now up to six following the additions of Craig Curran, Cameron Burgess, Marcus Fraser and Darvydas Sernas.

McIntyre said: “Ruben has match experience in the SPL with Hearts and can play in a couple of different positions. Rafa has played for teams in Scotland and England, he’s a versatile player. Both players will be valuable members of the squad over the coming months.”
