Derek McInnes has warned his players to forget their upcoming Scottish Premiership top-of-the-table tussle against Celtic and focus fully on keeping their unbeaten run going against St Mirren this weekend.
The Dons can make it 13 league matches without a defeat when they host the Buddies at Pittodrie this weekend.
A victory will move the Dons level on points with the league leaders, who face Hamilton Accies the following day.
It will be Aberdeen’s final match before taking on the Hoops at Parkhead on March 1 in an eagerly awaited encounter.
Dons manager McInnes says his players cannot be caught with one eye on Celtic when St Mirren come to town this weekend.
He said: “Everyone thinks Celtic will win the league and they have been on an excellent run. They are turning out good victories time and time again.
“We just have to focus on what we can deal with.
“We have a home game coming up against St Mirren and we have to deal with that before we look anywhere else.
“We are playing against a team fighting for its life and trying to stay in the division. The three points will be equally important for both teams.
“We just have to make sure the performance levels are high and there are no distractions other than doing the job on the day.
“If we are still sitting here in March and in and about things then great. We can maybe talk about it a wee bit more then but, for me, it is all about the St Mirren game.”
Jonny Hayes is a doubt for the St Mirren match after limping off with a hamstring injury during Sunday’s 3-0 win against Hamilton.
McInnes added: “It would be a real blow if he was to miss out. I don’t think there have been many, if any, better than him this season.
“He has been outstanding.”
