Ross County manager Jim McIntyre has warned his players they still have plenty of work to do to remain in the top flight.
The Staggies moved off the bottom of the table with a 3-1 victory against Partick Thistle on Saturday.
McIntyre’s men remain level on points with the bottom two, St Mirren and Motherwell, ahead of this week’s visit of Dundee to Victoria Park.
McIntyre insisted he always had faith his side could get off the foot of the table but says there is still a huge amount to do if they are to avoid automatic relegation or a nervy play-off against a Championship side.
McIntyre said: “I’ve seen since the day I came in the door there are players here who are more than capable of winning matches at this level. But it’s fine me saying that – you have to win these matches for people to start believing it.
“However, we’ve only won two games. A wrong result next and we could be back down the way, so we won’t get carried away.
“We know what it is going to take and how hard we need to keep working.”
Craig Curran, Raffaele De Vita and Marcus Fraser were on target in County’s impressive victory at Firhill.
The scoreline could have been even better for the Staggies had former Nuneaton, Limerick and Tranmere Rovers forward Curran not missed a penalty in the second half.
It was only Ross County’s fourth victory of the season and certainly one of their best performances.
McIntyre added: “I thought the central pairing of Martin Woods and Jackson Irvine combined really well. It would be unfair to single anyone out from Saturday as it was a real team performance.
“The two boys up front, Liam Boyce and Craig Curran, worked incredibly hard and made sure the Partick Thistle centre backs knew they were in a game.
“When we missed the penalty, I thought it could come back to bite us but the players didn’t let it affect their performance and kept at it.
“We did the ugly side of the game well and when everybody does their job, it affords you the chance to go on and win the game.
“It was a proper team performance and that is what will be required from now until the end of the season.”
