Ross County made it three wins out of three with a hard fought 1-0 win against Dundee at Victoria Park.
A gritty, determined display earned Jim McIntyre’s side all three points in a pulsating encounter but the Staggies fully merited their victory.
Following back to back wins it came as no surprise that County manager Jim McIntyre named an unchanged starting 11 for the visit of Dundee while the visitors made one change with Gary Harkins replacing the injured Paul McGowan.
County’s increased confidence was clear to see as they put Dundee under pressure but Paul Hartley’s side boast the fourth best away record in the Scottish Premiership and they were not ruffled easily by the Staggies’ direct approach.
Neither goalkeeper was called into action in a competitive first 45 minutes which featured little in the way of goalmouth action but Michael Gardyne should have done better when Liam Boyce played him through on goal but the midfielder fired over the crossbar from 10 yards.
Scott Boyd should have put County ahead early in the second half when Raffaele De Vita’s cross fell at his feet but he fired straight at Bain from point blank range.
As the pressure intensified Jackson Irvine saw his low strike from the edge of the box tipped away by Bain but the home side were not to be denied and they finally got the breakthrough their pressure merited when Gardyne jinked his way into the box before crossing from Jamie Reckord who knocked the ball into the empty net.
Substitute Jake Jervis struck the crossbar with a header as County pushed for a second goal but the home side stood firm to claim another crucial win.
