Ross County manager Jim McIntyre wants his players to put the club’s future ahead of their own as the race for Scottish Premiership survival intensifies.
The Staggies have pulled level with St Mirren and Motherwell after a three-match winning and have the chance to match the club’s record four-in-a-row run of two years ago if they can beat Partick Thistle tomorrow.
County put together a four-game winning streak as part of an 11-match unbeaten run in 2013 with victories coming against Dundee, St Johnstone, Motherwell and Aberdeen from February 8 to February 26.
Several Staggies players are out of contract at the end of the season but McIntyre knows they can further their claims for new deals by helping keep the club in the division.
He said: “We’ve not looked at anything bar trying to win the game that’s in front of us and gain some momentum to climb the table.
“That’s the only focus and it will continue to be that way because it’s got to be.
“We’ve got to just focus on the game in hand because if we were to lose the game on Saturday we could be back bottom of the league. All the focus is on the game in front of us and trying to get it done.”
Meanwhile, McIntyre believes having Rocco Quinn back available will be like having a new signing.
Quinn played his first game in four months yesterday when he had half an hour for the club’s under-20 side in an SPFL development league match against Celtic.
McIntyre expects Quinn, who has been absent due to a hip injury, to be back at 100% after his lengthy spell on the sidelines. He said: “It has been great to have him back in full training and getting a run-out is another step towards getting him back involved.
“The surgeon is pleased with how the operation went and he’s done a lot of hard work with Crawford Quinn, our physio. He’s put in a lot of hours in the gym and on the rehab side of things. His return will come at a great time considering he has hardly played for me.”
